The Dazhuangke section of the Great Wall is situated behind Xiangtun Village in Beijing’s Yanqing District. Built during the Ming Dynasty, this part of the Great Wall has a distinctive history. In addition, between this section of the Great Wall and the Badaling section, there is a gap of about 100 li (50 km) where no brick walls were constructed, which is why this section is considered a new starting point of the Ming Great Wall. Additionally, many of the bricks in this section bear inscriptions that reflect the story of “Southern Soldiers Guarding the North” during the Ming Dynasty.
The residents of Xiangtun Village, living at the foot of the Great Wall, have been dedicated to its protection for generations, playing a vital role in its preservation.
In this episode, Cameroonian actress Kang Jia will visit Xiangtun Village to explore its special connection with the Great Wall. She will uncover the history of the Dazhuangke Great Wall and discover how the villagers have contributed to its protection and preservation.
